Go Green

  1. The thought of everyone recycling just sounds cleaner and greener. However, the services of recycling are nowhere to use. I can remember when the recycling truck would come on Tuesdays and the trash truck would come Monday and Friday. The trash truck still comes, but where are the recycling trucks? Yes, everyone could take their own recycled goods to the recycling plant but that is less than likely to ever happen. So, what we should do is demand our services back. If you know more than one other person(a whole community) who wants to recycle have everyone write letters to the city to bring back the recycling trucks.

  2. I agree we need to do more to recycle, but people are lazy and don't want to be inconvenienced. It needs to be made as easy as possible to recycle so people will do it. Getting the trucks to come around and recycle would be great. At my aunts house in California they have three trash cans, one for trash, one for recyclables, and one for vegetation junk. It works great because it doesn't require any extra work by the person. Also children in schools need to be informed more of how to recycle and what the penalties are if we don't.

  3. An alternative solution I think would be that the best way to get more people involved with recycling is to have companies promote it. I think that if a person works at a place that is promoting recycling and has places for items to be placed in certain recycling containers, they would participate more. It is true that people normally do not go out of there way to stop by a recycling center to drop off paper, plastic or other recyclable materials. If people had access for all types of recycling at their jobs, they would recycle more and also maybe start turning in more items to recycle from their family members or neighbors that do not have places to recycle at.
